Joanne speaks about the lack of cardiologists in her area and how getting a second opinion in a larger centre was critical to her receiving care.
Transcript
Another issue with being [up north] is that we don’t have cardiologists so you have to go outside. You have to get a referral out of town and you basically have to go wherever they send you. But because I felt that I wasn’t getting the care, I wanted a second opinion. So I did manage to go to [large city] which I am lucky. And again thankfully someone in the health system said maybe we could get you here. ‘Try this, do that’. And again, without knowing, you just assume that your doctor would send you to someone reliable that would like. But anyways lesson learned.
